Entering this summer, the beaches in the United States reported no odor. The reason, a new study reports that the beaches in America country have poor water quality.
A study of Natural Rescources Defense Council (NRDC) found that most of the water on the beaches of the United States contaminated waste. NRDC took a sample of over 3,000 beaches in the America in one year.
Two-thirds of the cause of dirty ocean water are bacteria that pass through the standard public health, derived from animal and human waste. From this data, NRDC found that there are seven states in the United States with the dirtiest beach, which is in California, Illinois, Louisiana, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
The tourists are advised not to swim at these beaches. Sea water is dirty feared could cause stomach flu, skin rashes, and eye infections.
However, not all of the Natural Rescources Defense Council report brings bad news. It also found the beaches safe enough to be a swimming area, the beaches in the state of Alabama, Delaware, Maryland, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Texas.
“There needs to be awareness of visitors about the cleanliness of the beach. Only by doing simple acts, like picking up trash, keep pets while on the beach, and do not feed wild animals, all of which can affect the cleanliness of the beach in America,” said Jon Devine, Senior Attorney NRDC , as quoted from MSNBC.
